Inspired by the Great Commission of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Panjim Methodist Church (PMC) aspires to be a thriving community of faith, deeply rooted in Christ and committed to making disciples who transform the world into a better place through community service.

PMC exists to glorify God by loving Him, loving others, and making disciples who love God and love others. We strive to be a compassionate and mission-minded church that supports spiritual growth and equips believers to live out their faith, impacting their community with core human values.
HISTORY OF METHODIST CHURCH
The Methodist Church in India
The Methodist movement began in the 18th century, with the formal organization of the Methodist Church occurring in the late 18th century. John Wesley is the primary figure credited with founding the Methodist Church.
John Wesley was born on June 17, 1703, in Epworth, England. His father, Samuel Wesley, was a Church of England clergyman, and his mother, Susanna Wesley, was a devout Christian who heavily influenced her children's spiritual growth. The Wesley family was known for their strong faith and their commitment to raising their children in a godly manner.
John Wesley and his brother Charles, along with a group of students at Oxford University, sought to revive spiritual fervor within the Church of England. They emphasized a more practical and experiential approach to faith, focusing on personal holiness and community service.
Wesley and his followers reached out to marginalized and neglected segments of society, preaching in open-air fields and working among the poor. Along with their friends, the brothers formed a small group known as the "Holy Club" at Oxford. They began to preach often in open-air settings, attracting large crowds.
As the movement grew, Wesley established a structured organization with itinerant preachers and local societies. While seeking to reform the Church of England, the movement eventually evolved into the Methodist Church, spreading all over the world.
The Methodist Church reached India in 1856, introduced by William Butler, a missionary from the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States. He began his work in Bareilly and later expanded to Lucknow, further spreading to all over India and South Asia, including the Panjim Methodist Church in Goa.
Today, the Methodist Church in India is a significant Christian denomination with a substantial presence across the country. It has grown significantly since its inception and has made important contributions to education, healthcare, and social welfare through community service initiatives in India.
